Daylesford

The next-to-last stop on the fabled Main Line, Daylesford is where the former Cassatt estate is located. Built by J. Gardner Cassatt, the youngest of five siblings who included Pennsylvania Railroad president Alexander Cassatt and famed Impressionist artist Mary Cassatt, the estate housed a Catholic religious order from 1953 until 1964 and now is home to the Upper Main Line YMCA. Most of the area around Daylesford train station is considered an extension of next-door Berwyn, and it too boasts many large, luxurious homes and well-educated, affluent residents.
