Professional athletes and entertainers occasionally put this very secluded part of the Main Line on the map, usually when they buy or sell homes for princely sums, but otherwise, this community, the wealthiest on the Main Line, is off both the radar screen and the beaten path, and its residents prefer it that way. The community’s more rural feel is the product of moves to prevent large-scale subdivision of land in the early 20th century, and homes on large lots continue to characterize Gladwyne to this day. The oldest structure still standing in Montgomery County is located near the town center, where neighborhood shopping can be found, and other historic structures dot the Mill Creek that runs through it.
